We’re overjoyed to share the exciting news that we’ve been recognised with a Silver Award for Early Years Team of the Year at the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2025.
We revealed this recognition on our social media channels in celebration of National Thank a Teacher Day in June – a fitting moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of educators across the UK. Now, we’re taking a step further to reflect on what this accolade means to us, both as a team and as a community.
We’re thrilled to be among deserving institutions, teachers, lecturers, leaders and support staff recognised as a Silver winner for 2025. The awards celebrate the pivotal roles teachers, support staff, colleges, schools and early years educators play in inspiring young people every single day.
Selected from a field of thousands, our team stands proud in the knowledge that our ethos, approach and unwavering care have been recognised on a national scale. It’s an extremely proud moment for everyone at Banana Moon Rothwell, and we want to thank every single staff member for their dedication to shaping the lives of our little learners. As custodians of a child’s first steps into learning, we understand the deep trust parents place in us. That trust is a responsibility we hold with the greatest care and respect.
To mark the occasion, we enjoyed a celebratory picnic on National Thank a Teacher Day – where the Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Dan Cohen, presented us with the award.
And the exciting news doesn’t stop there – following our Silver Award, we’re now in with the chance of winning the highly desired Gold Award, which will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony in London and on BBC One’s The One Show later this year.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards and National Thank a Teacher Day are run by the Teaching Awards Trust, an independent charity that celebrates the transformative impact of education.
Sir Michael Morpurgo, President of the Teaching Awards Trust, author and former Children’s Laureate, says:
“The dedication and impact of those involved in educating young people is truly remarkable. Their influence extends well beyond the classroom – offering encouragement, inspiration and unwavering support that can shape lives for years to come. I’m delighted to be able to congratulate this year’s Silver Award winners. Your passion and commitment to shaping the next generation is extraordinary. Thank you for the difference you make every single day.”
To our families, our children and our wonderful staff: thank you for helping us grow a place where learning, laughter and love come first.
